[Geekiness] Twitter, LJ and FB

So yesterday I was speculating to my sis Juufan* that the unavailability of FB and Twitter could be due to a DDoS, a distributed denial-of-service attack. Her reply,

“On LJ AND Twitter AND FB? Someone must have a grudge.”

According to this, she could not have been more right.

Apparently the target was a vocal pro-Georgia, the country that’s trying to break away from its Russian master (hold the “In Russia” jokes please). The scope and magnitude of the attack is quite simply frightening, but it underscores the important of free speech.

When a voice makes the top echelons of any government squirm, then it should go on questioning and questing, until the government has answered their questions satisfactorily. For that alone, I do not believe in keeping quiet.

God gave us a voice to speak. He also gave us a pair of ears to listen. So use both wisely.

* I wanted to use her real name, then I realised that I have two sisters named Melissa. They both wear glasses and have long hair. Ok back to work.

What are you listening to right now?
Violent Vampires by Mark Mancina, from the Blood+ OST. It’s the perfect OST for novel writing.

What food could you eat every day for weeks and not get sick of?
Depending really, I tend to get sick if I eat too much of the same thing more than 3 days, much less a week. Would different types of tea count?

What was the last thing you bought?
Tea and cream puffs from Teapot Cafe while waiting for mom.

What was the cutest thing you’ve seen today?
The baby playing with his mom’s wallet with this really intense expression on his face, yet was so alert as to what was going around him. So cute!

Does the weather affect your mood?
Rarely, though rain makes me happy, sunlight even more so, but haze makes me depressed.

What is/are the things that make you happy?
Good food, good friends, spending time with things and people I love, a good game, and a good book. Also, having people to fangirl/fanboy with.

Do you want to learn another language?
Yup! Learning Japanese slowly, and probably pick up Esperanto sometime within the next one year.

By blood: one bratty younger brother.

Study Leave

To clear up misconceptions and ideas:

I’m taking a one-month leave from work to do homestudy. As most know, I took my TESOL Foundation class this May. I’ve confirmed completion of that test. The current course structure under GlobalTesol means that I have to take one specialisation. This Specialisation is Teaching English to Adolescent aka teenagers.

I actually have one year to do the course, but I aim to finish everything by end of August. This means completing the required reading and submitting the lesson plans and assignments to my course lecturer, Celine. There are no formal lessons or classes I have to attend.

I’m writing this post cause I’ve got a lot of confusion over it. Hope that clears it up. And in case you were wondering, I am probably going to make the MPBJ Library my second home during this month, so I might be away from the Internet for long periods of time. m(_-_)m
